FASHION DESIGNER – US fashion group - woven ladies apparel (Lai Chi Kok)

Company Overview

• We are a fast‑growing US fashion group, with our own production facility in Jiangsu China, specialising in ladies’ woven apparel for major US retailers and brands, including big‑box retailers (e.g. Walmart, JCPenney), discount chains and brand partners. 
• The group also operates its own ladies’ fashion brands with 100+ standalone and shop‑in‑shop stores across the US. 
• New York office : serves as the design and sales office for the US market, closely connected to end customers and retail partners.
• Hong Kong office : functions as the design and sourcing hub in Asia.

Role Summary

• You will focus on designing and developing ladies woven collections for the US market. 
• Report to the Design Manager in the Hong Kong office and work closely with the Design Teams in the New York office on US market direction and key projects. 
• The role offers a 5‑day work week with very few business trips required.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop seasonal ladies’ woven collections (e.g. dresses, blouses, shirts, pants, skirts, outerwear) for the US mass and discount retail market.
• Translate buyers’ design briefs and mood boards into commercial, production‑feasible woven styles that meet US customers’ price, fit and quality expectations.
• Conduct market and trend research on silhouettes, fabrics, trims, prints, washes and colours, with particular focus on US large retailers and off‑price channels.
• Prepare sketches, CADs and detailed tech packs for presentation to buyers and internal teams.
• Work closely with the Jiangsu factory, merchandisers and technicians on sample development, fitting, measurements and workmanship refinement.
• Review proto / fit / SMS / PP samples and follow up comments until bulk approval.
• Coordinate with fabric mills and trim suppliers on fabric/trim selection, feasibility, lead time and cost.
• Support buyer meetings, line presentations and quotation exercises as required.

Ideal Candidates

• Tertiary education in Fashion Design, Textile / Clothing or related discipline.
• 3+ years solid experience in woven ladies’ wear design serving the US market.
• Strong woven portfolio for US large retailers, discount retailers and/or brands is a strong advantage.
• Good understanding of woven fabric behaviour, pattern, construction and US fitting / size standards.
• Creative, trend‑sensitive yet highly commercial and cost‑conscious.
• Detail‑minded, organised, able to handle tight development calendars and multiple buyers.
• Good communications in English and Chinese
