Company Overview

We are a fast‑growing US fashion group, with our own production facility in Jiangsu China, specialising in ladies’ woven apparel for major US retailers and brands, including big‑box retailers (e.g. Walmart, JCPenney), discount chains and brand partners.
The group also operates its own ladies’ fashion brand with 100+ standalone and shop‑in‑shop stores across the US.
New York office : serves as the design and sales office for the US market, closely connected to end customers and retail partners.
Hong Kong office : functions as the design and sourcing hub in Asia.

Role Summary

You will be responsible for designing and developing ladies knit collections for key US customers and selected own‑brand programs.
Report to the Design Manager in the Hong Kong office and collaborating closely with the Design Director in the New York office on US market design direction and key programs.
This is a 5‑day work position with very occasional travel for overseas buyer meetings when required.

Responsibilities

Design and develop ladies’ knit collections (e.g. T‑shirts, tops, dresses, loungewear, leggings, casual sets) for the US mass and discount retail market.
Interpret buyers’ concepts and trend direction into commercially viable knit styles suitable for volume production.
Perform market and trend research on silhouettes, knit structures, fabric weights, prints, graphics, embellishments and colour palettes for the US market.
Create sketches, CADs, artwork layouts and detailed tech packs for internal and buyer approval.
Work closely with merchandisers, technical team and the Jiangsu factory on sample development, fitting, construction and workmanship.
Participate in fit sessions, provide fitting comments and follow through to PP / bulk approval.
Liaise with knit fabric and trim suppliers on fabric qualities, print techniques, wash effects and costing.
Support buyer meetings, collection presentations and quotation activities.

Ideal Candidates

Tertiary education in Fashion Design, Knitwear, Textile / Clothing or related discipline.
3–5 years’ experience in ladies knit / jersey design for US mass / value retailers or brands.
Strong portfolio in ladies knitwear, with good sense of US consumer tastes and price points.
Solid understanding of knit fabrics, shrinkage, printing techniques and bulk production constraints.
Strong sense of fashion trends yet practical and cost‑aware, able to design for high volume.
Careful with details, able to manage multiple seasons and tight timelines.
Good communications in English & Chinese
